Land trusts are in the business of land conservation. Land conservation can be costly, even for land or conservation easement donations. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit land conservation organization, KMLT must use its limited financial resources effectively. To do so, KMLT has developed specific criteria to rank potential projects to guide which projects meet our conservation goals and are financially feasible. Your financial contributions to KMLT help us in this effort. Protecting and restoring native ecosystems, and preserving Walworth County's rural character will benefit many.
- Island Woods Preserve. Island Woods Preserve is a 40 acre preserve located on the Lauderdale Lakes and is owned by KMLT. This preserve has hiking trail open to the public, with a bench that overlooks one of our deepest kettles, and it has our paved Overlook that provides a splendid view of another kettle on the property.
- Lauderdale Lakes County Club. KMLT holds a 57 acre conservation easement covering the Lauderdale Lakes Country Club located on the Lauderdale lakes. The conservation easement permanently protects the golf course from future development and it protects a shoreline wetland.
- North Lake Conservation Easement. KMLT protects over one and a half acres of shoreline along North Lake with a conservation easement. Owners of the property wanted to assure the permant protection of their hill prairie remnant along the shore.
- Delavan Lake Watershed. KMLT has partnered with the newly formed Delavan Lake Watershed Initiative Network to develop a conservation plan for the Delavan Lake Watershed that will help protect the health of Delavan Lake.
